Trumpet with Tim S.

Tim hails from Belleville, IL. Watching his father play with bands of almost every genre in the St. Louis area were his earliest musical experiences. He began his own studies on trumpet at the age of nine. After graduating from high school in 1993, he attended Eastern Illinois University. At EIU he studied trumpet with Dr. W. Parker Melvin and improvisation with acclaimed pianist Henry Butler. Since March 2004, he has been a member of the United States Navy Commodores Jazz Ensemble. In 2008, Tim was awarded a Latin Grammy for his work with the Latin Jazz powerhouse, Afro Bop Alliance. Afro Bop also received a nomination for "Best Latin Jazz Album" at the 51st annual Grammy Awards that same year. Additionally, Tim is a member of The Unified Jazz Ensemble, a performing and educational mainstay in the Washington DC/Baltimore area. Tim has performed with Paquito D'Rivera, Chris Potter, Branford Marsalis, James Taylor, Phillip Phillips, Jason Mraz and many more.
