I am a mostly self-taught professional drummer and have studied at Tarrant County College and under Chris Knox and Rich Stitzel. Drum students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. Every musician has a sound; I teach students to apply foundational techniques in order to unlock that individual sound. I can help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression. As a professional musician I frequently travel mostly in Texas to perform and record. I've also performed throughout the US and overseas with Casey James (American Idol) , Phillip Lassiter ( Prince, Kirk Franklin), Josh Weathers and many others. My current band is the Ray Johnston Band. I love to mentor students who want to become effective, dynamic leaders. My personal passion is soul music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
