I was the electric and upright bassist for the Grand Hotel Orchestra, a band which provided daily music for all events at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI. Performances included styles ranging from tradition jazz to 60s/70s/80s hits to contemporary pop.

I was the electric and upright bassist for the Belmont University ensemble Jazz Small Group I, which specialized in the performance of jazz music ranging from traditional jazz to modern fusion jazz.

With my course, you will learn how to craft a good sound, create bass lines, read charts, learn songs by ear or sheet music, slap bass, and find your sound. I have been a professional live performance and session bass player in Nashville for 5 years with extensive teaching experience. I have played with numerous acts in styles ranging from country to funk, and rock to folk. With a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Music from Belmont University, I can teach you to play any style of music as well as the theory and history behind the music you wish to learn.

I began playing music at the age of 9 and have been loving it every since. I started with the guitar, and throughout middle school I was introduced to piano, drums and bass guitar. I attended Belmont University where I focused primarily on the electric and upright basses, studying Commercial Music. Most importantly, I love music and I believe everyone has the capabilities of reaching a level where they can play the music that they love and a music that speaks to them. I enjoy all types of music, but I especially love listening to and playing funk, R&B, soul, rock and folk music.

Thomas is amazing! He is always on time and he really gets to know his students and adapts the way he teaches to fit each student’s individual needs. He has a true passion for music that is very apparent because he is always excited about whatever he is teaching me. I highly recommend Thomas as a teacher for private lessons!

Thomas is one of those teachers who effortlessly caters to the specific needs of his student. His technical skills and knowledge of music theory are vast, giving him the ability to teach at the highest level, but what makes Thomas special is his understanding of all genres and all levels. 
He's played every genre you can imagine and has something to offer every student. In the 3 years that I've studied with Thomas, I went from an amateur to an intermediate, and am currently working on reaching that next level.
With a teacher like Thomas, you can have that progression. I find a lot of benefit in having the same teacher as well over a period of time.
