Not sure where to start? Welcoming Adults and Children

Have you or your child wanted to learn to play the violin but didn't know where to start? You've found the right place. I have been playing violin since 1995, and been teaching private lessons in the upstate since 2014. I specialize in teaching beginner/intermediate violin students from young children to seasoned adults. What I love about teaching is the "light bulb" moment, where they understand something new and overcome a new challenge. It's never too late to start.

    About Tamara M.

My music journey began when I was four years old. I was sitting in daycare doing show and tell when my friend came in to show us her new violin. I was captivated by it, asking my friend lots of questions before going home and asked my mother for lessons. Over 20 years later, I still love the violin and the joy it brings me and those around me. I went to music camp many times, joined youth orchestra and played at local events. I joined ensembles, went with my friends to help them in school and local competitions, and never passed up an opportunity to play if asked. When my teacher asked me why I didn't have an interest in becoming a professional and playing in the symphony, the answer was simple. I played for the love of it, and I played for the light and joy I saw in the eyes of individual people around me. A few years later, I was asked if I'd be interested in teaching, and have been doing so ever since. I teach for the spark, the moment when I see that my students understand something new. I laugh when something that stumped and challenged them before becomes easy, and when they ask for something new and challenging. I have watched my students grow from small children into their high school orchestras, and adults originally afraid to even approach me smile broadly as they realize your never too old to pursue your dreams. Ask me anything you like, I'm an open book and proud of the success I've had with my students over the years.
