Sylvia grew up in Auburn, AL where she began teaching violin and piano to students of all ages in 2012. Since then she has continued to train as a teacher, taking pedagogy courses in both instruments through the Schwob School of Music as well as teaching through their preparatory department. Now an established musician based in Cleveland, Ms, Sylvia is studying towards a MM in violin performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music. A certified teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas, she has taught violin, viola, and piano at Aurora School of Music, Strongsville Academy of Music, and Warren Henry Music School, the Hellenic Academy and Chisipite School in Harare, Zimbabwe, as well as maintaining her own private studio of students in Cleveland and Zimbabwe with ages ranging from five year olds to adults. In addition, she works as a nanny and practice coach, building her understanding and communicative skills with children.
Ms. Sylvia performs regularly throughout the Cleveland area with the Akron Symphony, Firelands Symphony, and by herself in a variety of settings, from concert halls to hospitals. During the summers she has participated in Bowdoin International Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, and Music Inspire Africa, a program that allowed her to share her love of performing and teaching music with the people of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
