Learn to play guitar with an emphasis on finding your unique musical style and voice

My approach to teaching guitar is to treat it as a second language. By mixing music theory and music composition techniques, it allows the student to think about music in a more familiar way. In languages you have alphabets, sentence form, words, Phrases and paragraphs, that all work together to tell a story. That is what the best songs do. The melody and the rhythm work together to convey the emotion the artist is feeling or wants you to feel. I am absolutely captivated by guitarists (or any musician) who seem to effortlessly speak through their instruments. They converse melodically with other musicians as easily as if they were talking. The truth is, it is not effortless. They have spent a lifetime honing their craft by playing hundreds of gigs and thousands of hours of practice. I have developed a system to make it easier to visualize the fretboard and enable you to quickly locate the correct scales to play over a particular chord. Thus giving you a solid foundation to build your own personal style and techniques based on the musicians who you connect with. Whether you are an absolute beginner looking to be introduced to the musical process, or maybe you have been playing for a while and your looking to get to that next level. I have taught students their first chords, to navigating the triads and scales, to how to create phrasing by learning how melodies work, and what makes them appealing. By doing deep dives into your favorite musicians and music and incorporating it into your own Technique and style, you will develop your own musical language.

I liked the way the lesson was presented in a visual and aural way for one to learn. I feel that if anyone takes lessons with Stephen and applies in practice what he teaches, it will be well worth it. I do recommend taking lessons with him.
