Lessons with me are engaging, fun, and tailored to each student's individual needs! I have been a private instructor for over 5 years for students ranging from beginners to advance. My students can learn how to play the saxophone, refine their technique, enhance their musicality, and prepare for contests, auditions, and solo performances.
My education includes a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from University of the Pacific and I am currently studying at Portland State University working toward my Master of Music in Saxophone Performance.

Hello future student! My name is Shelbey and I am a saxophonist and instructor currently located in Portland, Oregon. I have been a private instructor for over five years and I love providing a fun and supportive environment for all students. No matter your goals, I am here to give you all the knowledge and training you need to become the best musician you can be. I look forward to working with you!

My son, who is 14yr, loved working with Shelbey, as his saxophone teacher.  He played in the middle school band and needed a private teacher.  Shelbey inspired him with her warm enthusiasm and incredible knowledge.  She was able to help him learn to play this challenging instrument, even though he wore braces and would struggle to make clear sounds.  Shelbey’s technical knowledge of the saxophone was so impressive and really helped my son improve. During my son’s performance at the school, it was clear that he had the edge over the other students, as his sound was beautiful.  We appreciated that Shelbey would take time to get to know our son and care for him as a person.  Shelbey is an amazing teacher, we love her!!
