Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
You will learn something new and exciting at each lesson. It will include time at the piano and other musical activities using tools that make learning easy, interesting and fun. I carefully plan the lessons to accommodate your Age, Musical Styles and Goals.

You will learn to play €artistically€ so the music comes alive€ and says something interesting€. The music will inspire and motivate your desire to learn while the experienced instruction will ensure your success. By obtaining a strong foundation you will be prepared to pursue whatever musical path you choose.

Here are a few examples of what you will experience at your lessons:

1. AT THE PIANO: You will learn interesting music that you will enjoy and have fun playing. Beginning students will be introduced to the musical staff, note names, note values, interpretive markings, the geography of printed music and the keyboard. Right from the beginning you will learn to play music you know and love. Advanced students will continue from their present level of instruction. .

2. "OFF THE BENCH ACTIVITIES" are used to reinforce the lesson and include musical games, flashcards, board work and other musical materials and tools.. These are not only fun, interesting and exciting activities but are extremely helpful to your learning experience.

3. IMPROVISING, ARRANGING, AND CREATING is so much fun! You will enjoy knowing that it is easy to create and play your own personal music. For many this is the favorite part of the lesson!!

At your VERY FIRST lesson! I will show you how easy it is to improvise amazing music. You will be surprised what fun it is to create your own music! The PACE APPROACH will make it very easy to read print music and it won't take long to play it.. .

The music will suit your AGE, ABILITY and choice of STYLE (Classical, Worship, Popular, Jazz, etc.). Your favorites are always included!!.

MUSIC COMPUTER GAMES are a valuable tool. I am a member of Music Learning Community a web based playground of music learning activities and games that will enhance musical progress. There are colorful animated games with imaginative themes. It is a carefully constructed educational site intended to make learning fun.

As my student you will learn how to READ, PLAY, and WRITE music as well as CREATE YOUR OWN. You will understand what the music is about (Theory), develop the correct way to play (Technique), Play in ALL Keys, Transpose, Create and Perform. This foundation will provide the skills to make learning easy and help you INDEPENDENTLY enjoy a lifetime of learning, creating, and making music.

Hi there, my name is Sharon M. I have loved music all my life, however, over the last 25 years my passion and joy has been teaching piano.

Beginning my musical training at a young age it was continued through college and beyond. I performed and accompanied throughout the United States and Europe for many years. Following college (Seattle Pacific University - Music Education/Piano), I received specialized teacher training and certification to teach the Robert Pace Piano Approach (Teachers College, Columbia University). I also have specialized training in teaching all styles of Improvisation with the author of "Pattern Play," Forrest Kinney. My students are excited to discover and create their own music from the very first lesson.

At your lessons you will learn how to read print music, play by ear, create your own music, and much more. The music is interesting, fun to play (never boring) and easy to understand. You will be surprised how fast you will progress! All styles, Classical to New Contemporary, are available musical choices.

I recognize that each student is unique and has different goals and aspirations so each student's lesson is unique and carefully prepared to inspire and create curiosity to make reaching the goal easy, fun and exciting.

My goal is: To discover and encourage each student's musical potential; to nurture and inspire creativity, musical artistry and a love of music; and to develop a strong musical foundation that provides the tools, confidence and enthusiasm to independently learn, create and enjoy music for a lifetime.

I look forward to helping you reach your musical goals!
