    About Shaneice J.

Hello! I have been teaching music since the age of fifteen. I would teach note value, rhythm, counting, and different sound techniques on the clarinet. All through high school, I was section leader in the band, orchestra, and other organizations outside of Dayton, Ohio. I developed a sense of compassion, patience, and drive. In college, I taught beginner-advanced clarinet lessons and beginner piano lessons. I believe that God has given me a gift of teaching and I want to share it with others. I have my high school diploma from Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio; Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in Music Performance (Clarinet), in Bowling Green, Ohio. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** Lesson Details *** My teaching style is based on the student. I believe each student learns in their own unique way. Finding a lee-way into the students learning style is essential. I am able to get any student to open up to me and communicate musically and educationally. I find out where the student's learning level is first and build from there. My overall goal in teaching is to allow each student to find their own learning style and let them know that they are unique individuals. I am a mixture of both laid-back and strict. If the student is practicing on a regular basis and is willing to learn, then the lesson will go smoothly. After three or six months with me, the student will be able to find their playing style and see what methods work best for them. For example, if a student is struggling with rhythm, I will show them different ways to use their strengths to develop their weakness. *** Studio Equipment *** I have a room w/ chairs, music books, pencils, manuscript paper, music stand, metronome, keyboard w/ pedal. Parents are welcome to stay during lesson times as well! *** Travel Equipment *** FOR CLARINET STUDENT: I expect the student to have an instrument, reeds, notebook, practice book(s) *** Specialties *** I specialize in classical. I use the basic principles in teaching music: scales, basic music theory, and aural skills.
