Hi! My name is Shane and I just graduated from Northeastern University having majored in Music Business, with a minor in Recording. I started taking guitar lessons when I was 5 and have done everything I can to surround myself with music since then. My exposure to guitar, theory, and sight reading helped me immensely when I picked up the trumpet in fourth grade band. My passion for music has provided me with opportunities to compete in Jazz Festivals in Monterey, play with orchestras on the stage at Carnegie Hall in NYC, and meet some of the nicest, most talented people the industry has to offer. After completing my freshman year at Wheaton college in Norton, MA, I felt I needed a change. I transferred to Northeastern, but first, joined a program called Projects Abroad that allowed me to teach music in South Africa to grades K-7. This is where I discovered my passion for teaching. This is where I learned the importance of music education. It allowed the music teacher and me to create a safe community where kids could learn and have fun in school, and after school as well. This inspired me to reach out to Boston schools that were lacking music programs. Upon spending my first year in Boston at Northeastern as a sophomore I started an after school music program at Cathedral High School. CHS didn't have any music classes at the time I started the program. We went from making beats by banging on trash cans, to fundraising for guitars, to implementing a full time music course at the school. When I'm not teaching or planning after school lessons, I'm usually making my own music, or listening to music. I grew up listening to guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Santana. While I always find time for these classic rock legends I currently enjoy a lot of soul/R&B. Music's versatility can provide comfort, and foster creativity. I hope as a teacher I can help you access all the tools you need to enjoy music to the fullest!

I have worked with Shane within the Cathedral High School Music Program and within our own independent music projects. Shane is patient, kind, and empathetic within his teaching. He cares about every student and pushes for success with a supportive structure that also makes sure to focus on technique and creativity. He is a very skilled trumpeter and guitarist. He is a great fit with kids and adults a like for his personable demeanor and wide knowledge of music.

I’ve worked with Shane a few times now, in the Cathedral High School Music Program as well our own independent music projects, and I’ve seen him teaching in the Brookline Public School system. He is a great communicator, collaborator, and teacher. He really knows his stuff but more importantly he knows how to effectively convey what he knows to others. I am a bass player and he helped me a lot with the electric guitar basics, always explaining things clearly and making it really fun to learn and play. I would recommend Shane to anyone anytime!
