    About Sean T.

My name is Sean Tang-Wang and I'm a graduate student at UCLA studying piano performance. I am currently seeking to apply the skills I've learned in my 15 years of learning from some of the world's greatest musicians and to spread that knowledge to my students. I'm young, but eager to prove that I am just as capable to teach if not more. I have had tons of experience teaching students of all ages, and have seen each of my students grow and develop as his/her own unique artist. Lauded by Die Spiegel for his performances at the Ettlingen International Piano Competition in which he played with “radiant virtuosity and artistic sensitivity”, pianist Sean Tang-Wang has earned critical acclaim as a recitalist, chamber musician, and recording artist. At 22 years of age, Sean has already amassed an impressive array of musical accomplishments, having won over 60 local, national, and international awards. In the last seven years, Sean has been a prizewinner at various international piano competitions, some of which include Virginia Waring, Seattle International, San Jose International, Benno Rubinyi, Bradshaw & Buono, and Gina Bachauer. Upon winning first prize at the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in 2014, Sean was given the opportunity to perform in various concert venues throughout Europe following that year. That same year, Sean released his second CD in which he played a program consisting of Bach, Liszt, Chopin, and Scriabin. In solo recitals and with international orchestras, Sean has appeared in some of the most prestigious halls, including the Weill Hall at the Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and the Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center in New York City, Sala dei Notari and Teotro Pavone in Perugia, and most recently, at the Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul, South Korea in which he performed a solo recital in the summer of 2020. He has performed as a guest artist alongside Lang Lang in a privately-held concert in Los Angeles, and has performed concerti with the Long Beach Symphony and the Perugia International Orchestra at the Musicfest Perugia 2018. He has been the pianist for masterclasses taught by Dang Thai Son, Antoinette Perry, Enrico Pace, Jeffrey Swann, James Giles, and David Kaplan. Sean is currently studying under the tutelage of Inna Faliks at University of California, Los Angeles, working towards a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance upon having earned his Bachelor’s Degree there as well. For the last two years, Sean has also maintained a full studio of piano students, in which he instills the importance of exposing young children to the world of music and related activities to foster their academic, social, and emotional growth. Away from the keyboard, Sean meddles in building crew events for the Los Angeles Lakers, finding innovative ways to market and promote various activities hosted by the sports team, while being a primary representative of seating locations, international communication services, and ticket sales.
