Anyone can sound great on a piano! Let me show you how. I am a gentle and patient teacher. My students like me. I have experience with _all_ ages, including little children, older children, pre-teens, teens, young adults, and older. When I started teaching, I assumed that many beginners -- especially children -- would prefer to learn music by-ear. Based on my own personal experience as a child learning piano, I found that to be the easiest, most-intuitive, and rewarding way to develop musically. However, in my more recent experience as a _teacher_, I appreciate how every student is unique and will learn best in different ways, using different approaches and methods. Some of the children I have taught, for example, demonstrated a propensity and affinity for visual pattern recognition. Some children seem to be more engaged when they have something to read. It holds their attention. Also, after the lesson is over, my student would have something to reference throughout the week to remember what notes to play. I have taught a variety of adults, teens, and children over the past four years. I have a B.M. degree in Music and Technology. Myself, I have played piano (and other keyboard instruments) for over 20 years. One approach I can take with adult students is to help them achieve a musical sophistication and richness without complexity and great difficulty. Being able to create music that is enjoyable to listen to isn't as hard as some might assume. Please contact me to show you how. I teach many of my students how to play their favourite songs. This includes simple melodies that little children like, as well as teenagers and adults ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "Killing Me Softly" and "Misty", for example). Lately, I have been teaching a teenage girl some of _her_ favourite songs, like "Redbone" by Childish Gambino, "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton (her biggest hit), a famous Adele song, "Slipping through my Fingers" by Abba (she had seen the _Mama Mia_ movie). I teach a variety of music -- "Classical" (formal European compositions), Rock/Pop, Modal/Impressionistic (which might strike some listeners as Jazz-influenced Jazz-flavoured) music. I been working on writing many transcriptions of my favourite songs/compositions. I'd love to share these with you and teach you how to play some of that music! I'll teach you your favorite songs, that _you_ like best. I've done exactly that for several of my students. Much of the value that I provide in each lesson is that I travel to the residences of my clients. I am _not_ metered by-the-minute. Lesson times are just mere guidelines for scheduling (and billing) purposes. Pre-designated time slots like 30 minutes are somewhat arbitrary (for example, a difference between 30 minutes and 33, or 36 minutes). Every student is different. What is important is the musical content and progress that my student makes.

Sean has been FANTASTIC with my 9 y.o. son. I was skeptical about how well online lessons would work for a complete beginner. This clearly isn’t Sean’s first rodeo. He has an excellent system for teaching online by sending annotated music beforehand. I must admit I had to push my son a little to get him to agree to piano lessons. Now he loves playing. He practices everyday on his own without being told and loves to ask me to record videos of him playing to send to his grandparents. I’m so proud of him and so grateful to Sean.
