I've been immersed in the crazy world of music since I was seven years old, starting piano lessons because I wanted to do better than my older sister did at them. Luckily, they stuck, and I've been playing ever since! I began learning vocal technique as I got older and sang with the choir at church and my high school chorus. When I got to college, I auditioned and made it into an a capella group that has since gone on to compete nationally in the ICCA quarterfinals. For both voice and piano students, I believe that in order to learn the most effectively you need to enjoy what you're doing, so I try and keep lessons as informal and fun as possible- I like to work with you, not lecture at you! I want to find learning techniques that will work for you and let you build up a solid basework of theory and skills, and will still let you love what you do. However you learn best, my vocal students can expect to gain better control over their voice throughout their entire range, better breathing techniques, and clearer tone. My piano students will learn proper hand and finger positions, sight reading, and control over dynamics. Both will learn how to read music if they don't already- whatever area of music you end up in, it comes in handy!
