Music Theory with Sarah L.

I have been involved in music and theatre for over 15 years, and absolutely LOVE participating in and teaching those subjects! My instrument of choice is piano, but I also play the clarinet, guitar and ukulele. I have choreographed, stage managed and directed various high school and college theatre productions, and more recently was a K-12 General Music & Choir instructor for 3 years at a small private school. I left the classroom setting to begin teaching online so I would have more flexibility to travel. I hope to eventually visit each of the 50 states, and to go explore other countries around the world. I am adventurous and energetic - you will notice in my classes that I always have a coffee mug in hand and a large smile on my face! In this format especially, I like to teach a student based on what their goals are. If you are looking for a general overview of reading and writing music, I will take you through all the steps you need to do so successfully. Or, if you want to spend most of our time learning about one specific area of general music, just let me know and I'm happy to work out a curriculum for you! My area of expertise is teaching beginner and intermediate level general music & theory. This includes but is not limited to: musical notation (writing & reading music on a staff), sight-singing, general music history, and music composer studies.
