Hello! I am a recent graduate of NYU where I received my Masters of Music degree. I studied flute performance under Keith Underwood and Soo-Kyung Park. I additionally taught as an Adjunct Instructor while completing my graduate studies at NYU, where I taught undergraduate and certificate NYU students private flute lessons. I graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in May of 2018, where I received a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance with a minor in art history. While at IU, I studied under Kathryn Lukas and participated in various ensembles and concerts, focusing mainly on chamber music. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, where I studied under Christina Smith, the principal flutist of the Atlanta Symphony, and I also participated in a numerous amount of masterclasses and performances with many different flutists. I have been playing the flute for 17 years, and I have been playing the piano for 20 years. I also play the piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, clarinet, saxophone and the guitar. I have been teaching the flute for over 10 years. I have taught students of all ages and levels. I also have worked with high school students in assisting with flute sectionals through the band program. I am experienced with a large variety of styles, and I am open to exploring different types of music. My goal is to give students the ability and resources to grow to become an overall musician. I work hard to find out how different students learn, and I adjust my teaching style to fit different learning needs. I aim to help students find a passion in playing music, so I try an find out what interests a student and work to incorporate that into flute playing. I am very encouraging and enthusiastic in my teaching. Please contact me with any questions :) Also feel free to check out more about me at my website sarahabramsflute.com

Sarah is an excellent flute instructor! Learning online during COVID has been a great experience. Sarah has found ways to make it easy - such scanning her notes to me and sending me recordings after the class. Her lessons are exciting, as I have been working on music I enjoy in addition to music Sarah recommended. I definitely recommend her for online lessons. I look forward to when we can return in person too.
