Hello, My name is Sara and my mother is Japanese from Kobe, Japan and my father is Caucasian American. I grew up speaking both Japanese and English and I now work as a bilingual, full-time actor in beautiful Northern California. I'm looking forward to working with you on reaching your goals for 2016! Whether you want to study acting or Japanese, I'd like to talk about what you wish to accomplish with our time together. Your goals are important to me and I wish to help support you on your journey towards achieving them.
I've been mentoring actors for the past four years and have have been teaching Japanese and English for 3 years. A friend suggested I start teaching online after I told him about my desire to offer affordable acting lessons to anyone who was passionate about it, but had no resources. So here I am and I'm also offering Japanese lessons since I know it can be hard to find a Japanese teacher/tutor as well.
I have a B.A. in Theatre Arts and a minor in Education from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana and have a certificate of completion from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco for completing their Classical Acting Intensive course. In addition to my western training I was an apprentice at Theatre of Yugen where I studied the dramatic art of Noh and Kyogen theatre for 3 years.
I've also taught Japanese 101 during college as part of my course work for Teaching Japanese as a Second Language as well as beginner Japanese to 5-7 graders at a local elementary.
And I also was an assistant English teacher for 2 years in Japan teaching Junior High School and working as a primary visiting teacher for over 40 elementary schools. Although my work was to teach English, because of my Japanese ability, I often worked as a substitute teacher and also translated documents for the local City Hall.
I can't wait to meet you and to work with you on pursuing your 2015 aspirations!
Worked at two Junior High Schools and over 40 Elementary schools as an assistant and occasional primary English teacher. Also translated English to Japanese and Japanese to English texts for schools as well as for city hall.
Sara keep the lessons interesting and challenging. She is fun to work with and stays positive. I look forward to every lesson and what I'm learning is helping me in other areas of my life.

Sara is a wonderful teacher. She teaches my daughter Japanese for preparing for her upcoming Japan trip. My daughter didn't want to take the lesson at the beginning. But, after one class, she wants to have more lesson with her. We look forward to more future lessons with her.+ Read More
She is not only knowledgeable but is polite and has a great feeling of low or no judgement (which is what you need if you are starting out). I am most satisfied with her as my instructor as she recognizes bad form and corrects it with respect and tact.
Wonderful teacher! Lessons move at a good pace and she makes the lessons very enjoyable. I look forward to learning with her in the future!
She was a great teacher. She compliment you a lot and she never focused on the negatives.
Excellent lesson. I got a lot out of it.
Ms. Sara is a wonderful instructor. She's very encouraging, friendly and I really appreciate how understanding she is, too. The pacing of my lessons is just quick enough that I'm comfortable learning new things and I never feel forced to learn harder things sooner than I need. I really enjoy having her as my sensei and I hope that I can continue learning under her more in the future.+ Read More
