Greetings and welcome to my Studio Profile, As a professional singer and teacher, I strive for artistic excellence and customer satisfaction. I want you to be excited about your voice and the progress you are making and will do everything I can to support your growth and progress. I have 10 years of experience in private teaching and would be delighted to apply this knowledge to help you reach your musical goals, whether auditioning for your school musical, preparing for college auditions, joining a church choir, or auditioning for an opera company. I teach a variety of musical styles including classical, musical theater, jazz, and some pop. My goal is for you to discover ease and freedom in your singing, increase your range and vocal stamina, introduce you to different styles of music, and ultimately equip you to sing with confidence and meet your personal musical goals. I graduated with highest honors with a Bachelor's degree in Voice Performance from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and recently completed my Master's degree in Voice Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College, graduating with distinction. My studies have taken me abroad to performing programs in Austria, Italy, Serbia, and Canada. I am an active performer and am experienced singing opera, classical music, jazz, musical theater, choral music, a Capella and Baroque chamber music. I am currently singing with the Chicago Master Singers and recently toured with them to Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. In addition to private voice lessons, I am trained to tutor music theory, music history, sight reading, beginning cello, and Singing diction for Latin, Italian, French, and German. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to meeting you and discussing your musical goals in person! Please feel free to contact TakeLessons with any questions. Warmly, Sara L. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are tailored to fit your individual goals and interests. I teach in recommended increments of 30, 45, and 60 minutes based on your student's age and level of experience. For more advanced students I would strongly recommend at least 45min lessons to get the most out of your lessons. Lesson Structure: 5-10 min. warming up your voice 10-15 min. vocal strengthening exercises and solfege (to improve sight-reading and musical skills) 20 min. repertoire coaching 5 min. final questions and assignment for the next week. Open door policy: Should you ever have questions or concerns about your voice or progress, please feel free to contact TakeLessons at any time and we are happy to discuss with you. Repertoire: I am happy to work with you on the songs that you are interested in learning. I also enjoy finding repertoire for you and introducing you to different styles. I often use repertoire to help build vocal skill sets, so that even when we are working on a folk song or classical piece in lessons, the skills you are learning can be directly applied to other styles you are interested in. *** Studio Equipment *** Piano, mirror, music stand, music and reference books. Students may be required to purchase some music books for study. *** Specialties *** - Beginning-Advanced Voice: Classical, Opera, Musical Theater, Jazz, and Popular Styles - Trained in Voice Science and Pedagogy - Building healthy vocal technique - Acting and Interpretation - Music Theory, Music History, Sight-Singing - German, French and Italian Language diction - Beginning-Intermediate Cello

Sara has been a great teacher! My daughter has really enjoyed having her as a teacher. She has really helped her open up her voice and has improved her tone quality immensely with Sara. We would recommend lessons with her for anybody!

Sara is so wonderful. In addition to being a patient and knowledgeable instructor, she is extremely kind and pleasant. She shows great encouragement to my daughter, and her enthusiasm is contagious. I really cannot recommend her enough!

Sara is a great talent. We are lucky that she its teaching our 10 year old daughter to sing. Recently Sara produced a recital showcasing her students. What fun it was to see such young talent perform so well. Remarkably, three of the girls - who I guess were between the ages of 12 and 18 - had voices so beautiful and performed with such confidence, that I was left wondering when I will be able to purchase their recordings on iTunes.
