San G.

Teaching Locations:

I am a former classroom music teacher, with an MA in Music Education, and I have been a working musician/recording artist for 30 years. I am patient and experienced in getting results. I believe the recipe for music education is Knowledge, Practice, and Fun = Joy. Spreading joy is a valuable service for good community.
I can help every student achieve his or her goals, whether it's to lead a campfire circle or play Carnegie Hall someday. (One of my students opened for B.B. King, and most of my students will play music for the rest of their lives. Some have grown to lead their own bands.)
I offer lessons in:
Guitar: All styles: Beginner to Advanced.
Piano, voice, ukulele, saxophone, and recording: Beginner to Intermediate.
About San G.
I have played music since I was able to sit at a piano at age 5. I began guitar at age 9 and wrote my first song shortly after that. My first real gig was at age 23 for three years in a specialty 1950's Rock and Roll band. I went on to record a CD as a solo artist in 1996, and was the leader of my own band for many years. Starting in 2006 I was the lead guitarist in a Vermont wedding band for 10 years. I've played all styles, from modern Rock, Pop and Jazz, to Classical, Country, and even HipHop and Bossa Nova!
I've studied and played music throughout my entire life, but it was hard for me to learn how to read music when I was a child, because I could play music without it! As a result, I didn't learn how to read music until I began college at age 40! I now have an MA in Music Education, and my own experience has helped me teach others how to push through the challenges of reading music, because it's similar to climbing to the top of a mountain so you can see what's on the other side--only not as hard!
I love teaching music and each student feels like a gift for me to get to know and be of service to.

San is easy going and made the lesson fun. I'm a beginner so she helped me with some simple chord exersises. She has a large range of different songs to learn but was happy to help me learn what I was interested in as well.

I played the Flute in high school and have not played music since. San is the director of music at the RV park my husband and I currently reside (snowbirds). The park has a band composed of residents and San is the director. I have enjoyed listening to the band play for the park residents so much and Sans offered classes to park residents so I have always wanted to learn guitar so I signed up for classes.
San has made classes enjoyable and challenging. She always gives me something to strive for, gears the lessons to my knowledge/ability and keeps me interested and wanting to learn more. I highly recommend Sans as an instructor. She will not disappoint!

I first got into guitar as an adult, with no prior musical experience. I took lessons with San for several years, and she was great. Always willing to work with me on things I wanted to explore and also good at pushing me in directions I hadn't thought of to help me get where I wanted to go.

San taught me to play guitar back when I was a kid, and the knowledge and skills I learned from her have since followed me through to adulthood and my career in audio engineering. She's a very talented musician and gifted instructor, I highly recommend her instruction.

San was an amazing instructor for several years for my daughter! She really enjoyed learning and having fun with San. We had private lessons as well as participated in rock band recitals. Always patient and kind with very good instruction.
