Ruth’s holistic approach to music welcomes players of all ages and skill levels. Whether students are preparing for an audition or honing clarinet skills, lessons are tailored to each student individually. Ruth provides instruction in playing by ear, form and analysis to enhance memorization, stage presence, rhythm and subdivision, sight reading, managing performance anxiety, transposition, phrasing and musicality, sectional and chamber music coaching, clarinet posture, breath support, reed work, and instrument maintenance. She is proficient on the Eb clarinet and bass clarinet. In-person lessons are strongly recommended, but instruction via zoom is available. First lessons are free, and Ruth is able to meet you for lessons at a location that is convenient to you. Ruth values safety and inclusion in the community, and her clarinet lessons are a safe space for students to be their authentic selves.
