My love of music started at the young age of 6 with piano lessons. My parents always said, "piano lessons were the best investment they ever made." Because of their investment it took me through my growing up years playing piano and singing at church and school then into college with a music major. I also auditioned and made the specialty touring "Vanguard Choral Group" and had the experience of producing a record back in the day. Taking what I had learned is now a joy to share with you. As a private teacher, I can promise you an enjoyable and very rewarding experience - smiles and laughter are guaranteed! My number one goal for each of my students is to foster confidence in one's self and one's abilities and to grow one's skills with the passion in music. For more than 30 years I have taught private piano and vocal lessons. I also have taught K-12th Music classes in Private Schools and directed children and adult choirs in churches. My joy in life is sharing my love for music with you! *** Lesson Details *** Our lessons will be filled with fun, yet challenging. I am patient and very encouraging with every student. I understand that every student learns in a way that's unique to them and I will do my best to discover your best learning method. I believe it is important for you to have a strong foundation of learning to read notes and understanding the basics of music. Each lesson will conclude with an assignment of songs given to work on throughout the week. These will be the same songs worked on during the lesson time, so you will go home with the knowledge to master each song. Music theory and technique exercises will also be included in the assignments. Daily practice is strongly urged and will be rewarded. The amount of practice time varies by age and level of skill. Within the first 3 - 6 months you will understand the basics and start feeling confident in becoming the pianist or vocalist you desire. Everyone learns at their own pace but with your desire and a little hard work and me as your guide and cheerleader you will succeed! I use the Bastien and Alfred method books. I will also introduce Christmas, Pop, Jazz, Christian, Classical and Broadway Hits for variety as time goes on.
