Teaching since:
1990

I am a classically trained performer and have plenty of pop music experience as well. I have studied with the some of the top cellists in the U.S. and Germany. Additionally, I have studied with leading pedagogy professors for my work with young children. I have taught private cello lessons for over 20 years and have infused all I have learned from my teachers into my teaching style. I enjoy discovering how each student learns best and work from their level.

I perform as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player and have experience teaching these styles of playing. I am a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and a solo artist with Great Lakes Performing Artist Associates. I was recently named an "Emerging Artist of 2018" by the American League of Symphony Orchestras magazine. My performing gives me great insight into preparing students for auditions all other types of performing.

As a pop artist, I perform with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra string section and have shared a stage with Josh Groban, Sarah McLachlan and Michael Bublé. It has been with this experience that I am able to work with students on an array of musical styles.

My son began lessons with Robin a few years ago and has really grown as a musician and in his love of the instrument. As a parent, I find Robin to be very organized about lessons, rehearsals and recitals, and responsive to questions. She is warm, encouraging and fun -- and plays lovely cello!

My 16 yr old son has been taking lessons with Robin for the last 2.5 years, and he has shown dramatic improvement in that time. She is an excellent instructor, and it shows that she loves teaching and performing. My son now plays with the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, mainly thanks to Robin.

Robin is the best of the best. She has been teaching my 13 year old daughter for about 3 years. She is always encouraging but also knows how to challenge her when she needs it.

I am an adult who began lessons with Robin approximately 3 years ago. First of all, her credentials and experience are incredible. But she is also the most encouraging teacher that I could ever imagine. She is always positive and eager to challenge her students. At the same time she is very good at recognizing road blocks in learning when they come up and finding new routes to achieve understanding. I believe her many years of experience teaching and her real love of the cello make her an outstanding teacher. I always leave my lessons feeling encouraged.
