After all these years of playing and thousands of gigs In many genres, I still remember why I started playing in the first place. The excitement and joy of playing and exploring music should last and I strive to impart that in lessons. Of course, you need to know how to work the machine and I teach that, while keeping an eye (or ear in this case) on the big picture. I include music history to give context and theory to help you find your voice. And it should still be fun. I have taught students from age 7 to 92, beginners to professionals. I know everyone is a unique person and I tailor lessons to fit your personality and how you absorb information. And I am very patient. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your musical journey!

I'm in 8th Grade and have been taking saxophone lessons with Bob for a year. He is friendly, patient, helpful and makes the lessons fun! I enjoy taking lessons with him because he's not too pushy but still challenges me enough to help me improve my skills. I would highly recommend him as a teacher!

Take lessons from Bob Campbell! Do it and you'll be rewarded with a fun, productive, and inspired musical experience that will enrich your life. Seriously. I've studied with Bob for several years and he is a creative and passionate teacher who can show you how to make the simplest exercises musical and interesting, while making more challenging pieces a pleasure to learn. Bob is a talented, accomplished performer who shares his in-depth professional experience and broad knowledge of music history and culture to educate and motivate. During lessons, Bob has been known to relay stories from classical-era musicians’ lives, play passages from 1930s to current jazz musicians, and impart lessons from his own performance experiences. I'm so often amazed that he has yet another fascinating example or story to illuminate a topic and provide new understanding of a concept. Bob is a learner-centric teacher who provides creative, deliberate plans and steps to move forward, but will change course if needed to enhance success. Since I started the saxophone later in life, he often mentions the “unique strengths of adult learners” and relates adult life-knowledge to learning musical concepts. Additionally, I have long struggled with confidence in music-making and Bob has come up with creative solutions to help me overcome my own “getting in the way” of music making while keeping me on task. Along the way he has been understanding, kind, and supremely patient while working through this challenge with me. Bob brings a keen intellect, good sense of humor, and a relaxed and fun teaching style to his lessons. I feel fortunate to have an expert and steadfast guide who encourages me to explore and have fun with music while helping me gain knowledge and skills. Do yourself a favor and call Bob to guide you on your own musical journey.

I’ve been taking tenor sax lessons with Bob for over 5 years. When I started taking lessons with him, I couldn’t play at all, but I’ve made great progress and Bob has been instrumental (sorry!) in my improvement. In fact, I got good enough to play "Unforgettable" during the service at my daughter’s wedding and everyone both enjoyed it and thought it was quite meaningful. Bob is professional, motivating and friendly and I’ve truly enjoyed working with him. I would very highly recommend Bob to anyone of any age who is interested in lessons on a woodwind instrument.
