Originally from Chicago, I attended Chicago Musical College for 2 years before moving to Calif. and receiving my B.A. in music from Cal. State Northridge. I also have an M.A. in Education from there. I have been a band director in public schools for over 40 years. My bands have won over 50 1st place awards in music competitions. I have been playing keyboard professionally since the age of 14. I truly enjoy working with both kids and adults on a one on one basis, and provide a relaxed and friendly, yet goal-oriented experience. *** Lesson Details *** In each lesson, students will work on technique, music theory, and learn pieces (both from the method book and from supplementary material). I choose material for each student to use based on age, ability, and interest. I don't use a "one size fits all" curriculum. Although lessons are relaxed, I do expect students to do their part and work on the assigned materials at home. In addition,I enjoy playing along with students as soon as possible. *** Studio Equipment *** Music Room: upright piano, chair, sports memorabilia, room for parents to sit in on lesson *** Travel Equipment *** I expect students to provide instrument (except piano) and music (which I would select) *** Specialties *** Can teach any school band instrument and keyboard

Rob is an excellent teacher and is helping my son learn saxophone in a way that keeps him interested and eager to learn more! Very satisfied with Rob’s instruction after 5 lessons and we will continue lessons with him going forward!
Clear goals. Great guidance. Comfortable surroundings.
Rob has been really helpful getting my child started with a new instrument. We look forward to more lessons.
