I grew up in the small town of Wayne, Nebraska. When I was five years old, my parents got me my first guitar as a Christmas gift. It wasn't until I was about 12 that I discovered my passion for music through heavy metal bands that my dad introduced me to. I took guitar lessons and played in a few local bands in high school, and when I graduated I decided that I wanted to make music my career. I was lucky enough to attend Musicians Institute and graduate in 2012 with an Associates Degree degree in Guitar Performance. I have years of teaching experience and have completed a certified music instruction course with All Play Music. I am all about making my lessons super fun while also making sure the student learns and retains important information!
*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is geared specifically to the student. No two students learn exactly the same way and most students are at very different levels from each other. For younger students, my main goal is to get them having fun on the guitar by learning songs that they enjoy while also learning the essentials that will help them grow as a musician. Older and more advanced students will focus more on new and advanced techniques that will cater to their playing style and also help them explore new styles.
As a teacher I am laid back and I always make sure that the student is enjoying their lessons and learning things that they actually want to learn and music they are passionate about. Music should be fun! At the same time, I always set clear and practical practice goals but I leave it up to the student to decide how much they practice outside of our lessons to reach those goals.
