Greetings those aspiring to learn rock/metal/blues guitar with some jazz and classical, as well as reading music & traditional guitar as that is always good to know. I am a very professional, respectful, and honest teacher who wants to see you learn as quickly as possible. I have been playing, reading/writing music, and performing since childhood as this is my passion as well as having musicians in my family who influenced me. These are high quality lessons drawing from 40 + years of performing, songwriting, teaching many students, as well as learning from various teachers. The content will be customized and provided to you by me, something other teachers do not do. I also show you how to create your own songs and your own solos while some other teachers only teach you to play songs created by others. Playing vs creating are different processes -- EVH, Hendrix, Iommi, Page are creators and innovators and I can help unlock your ability to create. For close to 40 years, I have taught guitar, played 100s of shows and recorded in professional studios as well as previous bands being mentioned in magazines. I am a performer, a studio musician, songwriter, team player, mentor, and more. In addition to playing/recording, I am an fan of great bands and players having seen hundreds of concerts including Metallica & big 4, Rolling Stones, the Who, Iron Maiden, etc. I can show you rhythm and lead techniques of players such as Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Jimmy Page, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, as well as Classical Pieces played on Classical Nylon string guitar by JS Bach, Mozart, etc. Jazz progressions with jazz soloing in the styles of Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, and others can also be covered. In addition I cover the themes for popular Movies, TV shows, and video games. Great music tells a story such as "Stairway To Heaven" or "One" , so I am very big on the music that enhances movies, games, and TV shows. Having seen up close hundreds of legends live such as EVH, Cliff Burton, Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, Yngwie, Dave Mustaine, Vai, Satriani, Steve Morse, Petrucci, BB King, Buddy Guy, Les Paul, Paco de Lucia, and others has also allowed me to absorb as much as possible to play their music with the same feeling and attitude. Up close in small venues I saw all the San Fran acts like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Death Angel, Testament, and more as they were rising out of underground status which impacted my playing in that genre. Also I have experienced the same for rising stars out of the 80s CBGBs NYC scene. Also my playing was impacted by Yngwie, Paul Gilbert, and other rising stars of that time. Jamming with schoolmates and friends at such early teenage years helped me grow as a musician early on as I started writing my own songs, and learned to be a team player. Also, having opened for bigger acts and auditioning for TV shows and NY centric bands were experiences in the 80s learned from. The recording and performing experience is of paramount importance having recorded in the same studio as bigger artists and working with the right sound engineers and producer. In the studio we lay down multiple tracks, manage our time as it is billed, etc. Also live, the miking of amps and drums must be done correctly along with the soundman tweaking the mix with PA system. Properly attending sound checks and proper PA monitoring is yet another skill & experience. If you choose me, you are choosing someone who has real experience and who will not waste your time delaying your progress. I can bring out your potential as fast as your determination to do so. Best of luck in your search for a guitar teacher and in your guitar playing goals.
