I am at the mid point of my 8 lessons with Randall. I began my lessons as a firm believer I didn't have a music bone in my body. I was tone deaf. I couldn't learn music.
Since I started my harmonica lessons began, Randall has helped me throw these self imposed restrictions in the trash can. I hear musical notes now. When I whistle, I can tell i'm off tune with the song. And I'm playing, although slowly, songs I love on a musical instrument. And I'm not talking Hot Cross Buns or the song about wondering what a Twinkling Star is. (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, how I wonder what you are....you obviously know what it is, you just called it by name?!)
I'm talking Killing Me Softly, and Patience by Guns N' Roses.
Randall always infuses musical history within the lessons, which I find as valuable as the lesson themselves. During the lesson, when trying to help demonstrate how the song goes, Randall will pull out an additional instrument and play along side me. I'm literally playing music with someone, I never thought I was capable of this! It's very exciting for a musical novice.
Randall also emphasizes learning the right way, at the right speed. As I was racing through Patience with little grace, he gave me this feedback.
"Do we want to play this song like Axel Rose, heck yeah we do! And we will! But for now, lets slow it down and learn it correctly." He wants his students to learn the right way, so when it's time, they play their instrument at a high level.

My lessons have been an all encompassing educational experience.
If you are interested in learning a musical instrument, in a fun atmosphere from a passionate music professional, you should book Randall ASAP.

My Son is on his 5th lesson and he is still super excited to go to his lessons. Thank you Randall for fostering my Son's love of music. That's not easy to do as he has had some pretty bad teachers in public school that did nothing but discourage him. Thanks again!

Randall has really helped my son grow as a musician in a short period of time. He is very knowledgeable, patient and uses humor to help establish rapport. I was concerned about virtual music lessons, but the experience has been much better than I expected. We were only going to use this for summer enrichment, but have decided to continue during the school year.

Randall is an awesome teacher. He has taken my bowing to a whole new level. I now feel comfortable with the bow in my hand and can now bow straight . I will be learning a new song next week. I am looking forward to my next lesson with Randall.

Randall knew exactly what to do to correct my bow grip and explain and model for me how my bowing wrist needed to change in order for me to bow straight. This has been a problem for me. He is extremely knowledgable. I am looking forward to practicing the exercises he gave me before the next lesson.

Randall is an amazing instructor. Very laid back, easy going and extremely knowledgeable.
He provides just the right amount of positive reinforcement sprinkled with a little constructive criticism which helps motivate me to be a better student. He provides that subtle nudge for me to learn something new without me realizing it. Did I mention, He makes learning a new instrument FUN….

The lesson was for my grandson who is 13. It is difficult for him to focus, but he seemed to follow Randall for the entire lesson. He was introduced to quite a bit of information. This next week will provide information on what he is able to retain. For my part, I was pleased with the bits of musical history that Randall imparted, so I am receiving benefit from listening in.

Randall was fantastic. He immediately engaged with my son, and interspersed history and anecdotes into the lesson that made what he was saying even more relevant. Vlad is nine, and new to the violin. He couldn't wait to get home and practice, and is already looking forward to his next lesson.

Randall makes sure that you don't persist with any bad habits that will prevent you from learning how to play the instrument properly. He also gives you simple analogies why some things need to be done a certain way...and as a side benefit, you will learn about music history as it relates to what you are doing.
