- I adjust the lesson to who you are as a person, and who you want to be as a musician. Given your goals, I create a custom lesson plan. Want to learn how to jam with others? Want to learn how to play your favorite songs? Want to learn how to write hit songs? Want to get a solid understanding of theory? I can cover it all. - I also have a few core principles that I believe to truly help any student, at any age and level of experience. For example, before you can learn how to play well, you need to learn how to listen well. Your ear is your primary instrument, and building the connection between your ear, your brain, and your fingers is key. - My lessons are equal parts joyful and curiosity-driven, as much as they are rigorous and developmental. - I have experience not only in the mainstay genres (jazz, classical, rock, blues etc), but can also venture into off-the-beaten-path genres, such as gypsy jazz, world music, eastern music, etc. I like to take a global approach to understanding and playing music.
