My name is Patrick and I have been teaching guitar for six years, and am located in the NOPA/Western Addition neighborhood of San Francisco (although I am happy to travel to your home anywhere in SF). I received my bachelor's degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where I studied with Professor Clare Callahan, and played in master classes with many renowned guitarists such as Oscar Ghiglia, Pavel Steidl, and David Russell. I am currently pursuing a master's at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of David Tanenbaum. Though my personal focus is on classical music, I also love to play and teach rock, folk and pop styles, and whatever your musical goal is, I can help arm you with the best musical and technical skills so that you can feel comfortable in any type of music.
*** Lesson Details ***
In lessons, I strive to provide the student with the best possible technical instruction for their preferred style, as well as expose them to all kinds of music they may not have been familiar with in order to expand their musical horizons and whet their appetite for playing guitar. I use various methods for classical and rock styles, and try to strike a balance between instilling the right amount of solid technique and having a great time making music.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Classical, but am also quite comfortable with folk, rock, and pop styles.
Great teacher very patient and knowledgable. I am just starting out and he took the time to show me, give me good basic lessions and work with me on technique
I was wary to use this site to begin with. Why are music lessons so hard? When I was signing up, the calling salesman phoned me after I had entered my number in order to see where the teachers were located, but before I even clicked submit. The site said my lesson would take place at Patrick's college, but when he called me later he said he was not allowed to use the school to do lessons, so it would be at his apartment. Then, the address he gave me did not exist and he did not answer his phone. What a waste of time!
