Hey! You with the guitar! Let's rock!!! There are few better ways to spend your time than playing the guitar. It is beneficial to your mind and soul, and can lead you down wonderful paths in life. Playing an instrument is one of the BEST ways to connect with yourself and others, whether it be through celebration, dance, campfire singing, jamming with friends, starting a band, performing, writing music for a play or a video game, sharing your story with others etc. I could write to you all day about how it has enriched my life.
My goal as a teacher is to help cultivate excitement in my students and keep learning fun and interesting. We will focus on what it is that gravitates you to the instrument and break down what it will take to get there. My aim is that you will always continue to pick up the guitar out of the joy of playing, instead of feeling like you have to. The guitar doesn't have to be a rigid instruction, it is fun, free, creative and different for everyone!
"When it comes to Western music theory, there really isn't that much to know. It's how we put it into action that leads us to finding our own style and gaining the freedom we are looking for."
My name Pat Boyer, I live in Provo, UT and I absolutely love playing the guitar!! Besides studying the instrument over the past 16 years, I've played in countless bands, spent countless hours in the studio and have performed in over 1000 concerts in my lifetime. Some notable concerts I've played: Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits music festival, Hangout fest, Voodoo fest, Lollapalooza, Treefort music fest, the Grand Ole Opry and more. I toured for over 7 years with the group Desert Noises based out of Provo, Utah and have signed deals with SQE and Curb Records since. I have lots of experience in the language of American music, and know what it takes to be able to jam with ANYBODY. Most of all, I just love the guitar! Lessons don't have to be a drag, because playing guitar is one of the funnest things out there. It can be a wonderful practice if you find your connection with it, and a great way to bond with friends and family. Let's get started!!

I started working with Pat remotely in 2020 for a year then did about a year of lessons with him in person. Both experiences were great! I started as a self-taught beginner with just some basic chords, and now I'm very confident with finger-picking and flat-picking styles. Pat did a great job of identifying what I needed to improve on, and gave me exercises and taught me songs to improve in those areas. We also covered a lot of music theory and practical lessons in guitar playing, improvisation, and composing. He knows tons of styles, and can learn any song by ear, so the sky is the limit on what he can teach you. We focused a lot on bluegrass, blues, folk, and other acoustic styles. I gave him a playlist of songs I wanted to learn and he taught me many of them and supplemented with other songs in the same genre. Pat is a patient teacher, very consistent and dependable, and extremely helpful. I would recommend his lessons to any guitar player at any level!
