I am interested in teaching people in the ways they learn best, using the best methods available. I keep up with brain and learning research and attempt to incorporate into my teaching new understandings of learning and how the brain processes music. Because each student is unique, with her own learning style, motivation, goals, and desires, each lesson is uniquely tailored to that student, while still including standard elements necessary for establishing an excellent technique, while increasing students' knowledge of music theory, history, literature, performance, and practicing skills.

I teach violin using Suzuki, Rolland, Havas, traditional, piano using traditional, Faber, Bastien, Snell, and both using my own methodologies. My violin group classes are a unique blend of Suzuki and my own creative exercises, games & props.

About Patricia B.

Music gives me great joy! From my first lessons as a child, to orchestral performances at the Musikverein in Vienna, whether I'm playing in my own home, at Disneyland, or for 6,000 at an Easter celebration in Lady Lakes, Florida, music experiences have been THE peak experiences of my life. I want every student to experience such fulfillment and for it to last a lifetime.

How does a teacher help this to happen? By assuring that lessons excite the mind and instill excellent technique, engage the body in non-injurious ways, introduce musical discoveries at every lesson, and help students learn how to practice and to want to practice. I teach students to practice effectively and efficiently, not to confuse efforts with results. Music history and literature are so vast they do their own work of bringing excitement and astonishment to students. I just make the introductions and guide the journey.

We are hard-wired in our brains and bodies for music. This means we're born with a certain amount of musical intelligence and aptitude. My job is to increase students' musical knowledge while helping them develop the physical skills necessary to play increasingly complex & challenging music of any style, with increasingly refined skill.

It's a good thing I know how to do that! It's also a good thing that I had extremely capable teachers so that I can impart their musical knowledge in a tradition of sharing that is older than the modern forms of instruments we play today. Musicians are all part of their instrument's family tree. Violinists have proud playing, technical & teaching traditions dating to Corelli and Vivaldi in the 17th century. Pianists have their own incredible history and traditions that follows the development of the pianoforte. But we each have to earn our positions on that family tree. Studying with an excellent teacher is the first step. Working hard is next. I hope to be the teacher who sets you on a path to discover that rich history and become a part of it yourself.

It will be more fun than you can imagine! Take lessons with me today.

In the past, Ms Brimberry taught both my daughers. When I decided to learn piano, I contacted her. My online classes with her has been an excellent educational experience. My preconceived ideas about learning piano were quickly dispelled as she constructed lessons to both my weaknesses and strengths. She corrected rhythmic errors by analyzing my learning style and then helped me to be precise in my technique and reading. She spent a great deal of time showing how to interpret what a composer intended. Ms. Brimberry was always prepared for my lessons, often bringing the world of music through biographies and history that made each lesson dynamic within the context of the composers era. Finally, she taught me how to practice; a skill that has saved me a great deal of time.
