Cello Performance
About Parker O.
I am a multi-style cellist and singer based in Boston. I perform as a solo artist and in a jazz/folk duo. In an attempt to help the cello become more relevant and prominent in contemporary music, I have developed a unique sound characterized by intricate pizzicato and strumming patterns, and fiddle-like bow technique. An experienced session musician, I play many styles of music, including classical, folk, funk, Middle Eastern, Bossa Nova, and gypsy jazz. My work has been featured on BBC Radio, NPR Music, and Washington, D.C.’s historic WPFW Jazz & Justice Radio. In addition to performing and teaching, I am an experienced session musician and run workshops on the 21st century cello. I graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music where I studied with Darol Anger, Mike Block, and Peter Eldridge.
