Oboe with Nicholas T.

I joined the Colorado Symphony in September 2017, and I have performed with the best orchestras all around the country, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, and have been lucky enough to study with the best oboe pedagogues, including John Ferrillo, Anne Marie Gabriele, Linda Strommen, Richard Dallessio, and Dan Stolper. I have also studied the psychology of education with Robert Duke, PhD, a leader in music pedagogy in America. In the Denver area I maintain a private studio of both young students and adult amateurs, and I work with the Denver Young Artists Orchestra as a sectional coach and audition adjudicator. I preach a school of American oboe playing with an emphasis on producing a sound quality with sweetness and depth, playing with a sophisticated sense of line, and phrasing with conviction and confidence. I come from a family of musicians and teachers, and it was instilled in me early how important it is to pass on knowledge. I have worked with everyone from very beginners at the Colburn School's "Jumpstart" program to experienced pre-collegiate oboists at the Boston University's Tanglewood Institute, and I can't wait to work with you or your child!
