- Teaching since:
I am a guitarist, songwriter, and composer based in Providence, RI. I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies for guitar.
I have over 10 years of teaching experience and work with students of nearly any age and ability level. Beginners generally cover learning to play chords and songs, developing technique by playing with minimal tension, and maximizing practice time to ensure continual growth. All of my students receive a certain amount of practice in theory, ear training, and musical appreciation/analysis, but I always try to connect it into the natural flow of lessons.
Stylistically, I teach a wide array of genres but some areas of focus include jazz and improvisation, lead and rhythm rock guitar, and fingerstyle with a general emphasis on teaching students to become more self-sufficient learners, and to think and play creatively.
Besides teaching, my main passion is writing and performing new music. I have toured across the United States and Canada with several bands and released a number of full length records and EPs.
Whatever stage you're at in your musical life, starting from square one, looking to build up from what you already know, or needing a real shake up in your playing, I look forward to helping you take the next step and achieve your goals.
