Hi! My name is Nathan Nicholas. I have been teaching consistently since 2013. I got my bachelors degree in music composition in 2017 and I currently work as a full time music instructor and performer. My approach is largely theory oriented which allows for a wide usage of skills. This way it is easier to learn new material, write original music and learn new instruments. It's a great approach for creative people. I have a lot of experience in directing ensembles/bands which occasionally are made up of my students taking lessons together. I can help you to gain a self-sustaining musical education by teaching you the fundamentals needed to continue teaching yourself new things. I'll also guide you clearly on how and what to practice as this is the most important factor in progressing on your instruments. A big perk to my lessons is that I can provide my students with custom transcriptions and arrangements. Perhaps you want to learn your favorite pop song and there is no music available for it; I can transcribe it and arrange it custom to fit your experience level. I can also train you to do it yourself over time. Since I teach multiple instruments, I also am frequently asked to teach new instruments in addition to the ones we start on. This can be a very enlightening experience in how the different instruments compare and contrast in their functions and ability. It also makes YOU a more valuable musician!
