Piano with Myroslav M.

Myroslav, 19 years old, was formerly a scholarship Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a training center for advanced pre-college musicians. He studied piano with José-Ramon Mendez. Myroslav was born in Ukraine, Kyiv, and began playing piano at the age of 6. He attended the Kyiv Secondary Specialized Music School for gifted musicians. During his piano studies, he was featured twice in the White Hall of the House of Scientists in Kyiv and performed numerous times across other venues in Ukraine. He also won first prize in “Concours International de Piano Ville de Gagny 2017” in France. At the age of 13, Myroslav and his family immigrated to the United States of America. Upon his arrival in the U.S., Myroslav was determined to continue his piano studies. He studied with Lyudmila Lakisova, and in 2018 received an honorable mention in the Crain-Maling Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition. Myroslav won top prizes in the following competitions: 2022 Chicago International Music Competition (Concert Artist Category) - First Prize, Medici International Music Competition - Second Prize, Rocky Mountain Music Competition - First Prize, and Birmingham International Music Competition - Second Prize. He additionally won top honors in the 2017 Sejong Music Competition and Walgreens National Concerto Competition. To this day, Myroslav has had masterclasses with many prominent teachers and artists, including Marian Hahn, Logan Skelton, Daniel Shapiro, Michael Brown, and Shai Wosner. The most prominent festival in which he participated twice was the music festival Manhattan in the Mountains, New York. Some other festivals included the Chicago Chamber Music Workshop and Palmetto International Piano Festival at Erskine College. Myroslav had an opportunity to arrange and perform his solo recital with the assistance of the “Young Steinway Concert Series 2018-2019” on April 7, 2019. In addition to performing solo, Myroslav enjoys playing chamber music. He was part of the intensive chamber program at MYAC (Midwest Young Artists Conservatory), becoming the Overall Winner of the MYA Discover National Concerto Competition in 2019. The trio later went on to participate in the Fischoff Competition. Another of Myroslav’s groups, Dando Piano Trio, has won the first prize at the Tenth Annual 2022 A.N. & Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Music Competition in Chicago. Currently, Myroslav studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with Benjamin Pasternack.
