I love working with beginner and intermediate musicians from those starting off in their school bands to adults wanting to reconnect to their instrument, or learn for the first time!
I've taught for more than 20 years. I structure lessons with a foundation of the basics, exercises and etudes, and literature. Music should be a rewarding journey that I want to share with you!
I've been teaching flute and band instruments for 20+ years and my students have gone on to enjoy making music, earning highest ratings at competitions, and having fun. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to make your first sounds and as time goes on you'll be able to play pieces of music you enjoy. I specialize in focusing on basic skills which will allow you to grow as a musician as time goes on. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

My musical journey started when I was 9 years old when I decided that I wanted to learn to play the flute. I'll never forget my first flute teacher, and I would love to help you reach your musical goals!
Recently I have had the opportunity to open my own music studio in my house, and I am thrilled to accept new private lesson students! It's exciting to share something I love so much with others. I'm offering lessons through SmartMusic as well as traditional method books. SmartMusic is a great program to use alongside remote learning.
I worked as a middle school and high school band director for more than 15 years and have taught private beginning and intermediate flute and beginning band students for more than 30 years. I love to work with new students (young and adult) to start you off on your journey, and those that have been playing for awhile to help you reach your next goals.
Music is something that should bring joy to you and those around you, and I look forward to getting started working with you.

I loved working with Mitzi. She is great at describing very precisely how to properly play notes to get the best sound, what fingering to use, etc. I'm an adult beginner, and she was very patient, friendly, and encouraging. I couldn't continue due to time constraints, but I highly recommend Mitzi and hope to return someday!
