Hello Students and Parents, I have been playing several instruments since I was very young, and am excited to share my passion for music with you! I have recently graduated from the Michigan State University College of Music, currently teach music at several public schools, and play in local ensembles. I have been very fortunate to tour the United States as a drummer with multiple ensembles including The Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, the Michigan State University Percussion Studio, and the Plymouth Canton Educational Park Drumline. I love all genres of music. Sometimes I feel that I have no choice but to blast my favorite hip-hop or electronic tunes while on the go. Other days, I immerse myself in the exploration of technique and emotion while perfecting some of Beethoven's late piano compositions. I spend much of my personal time on artistic ventures such as practicing, performing, drawing, playing poi, and going to concerts. The truth is, music is such a diverse art form that the inspirations and opportunities are endless. Thanks for checking out my page! I hope that we can start making music together soon. *** Lesson Details *** We'll take our first lesson easy with a discussion of your musical goals. I'll want to know things about you such as: Why are you interested in music lessons? What music do you like to listen to and what music do you want to play? Do you have any past experience? Or is this a fresh start? Do you know of any strengths and weaknesses? After this, we will begin a regiment that is as personalized as possible. My goal is for you to reach your goals while having fun and working hard. My teachers have always told me that you will take from your lessons what you put into your lessons. I am just as happy teaching the laid back hobby musician, as I am coaching the next Mozart who practices nonstop. My teaching style comes from a variety of influences. I used to be the student of Drum Corps instructors who had the highest standards for commitment and discipline. Now, I myself work with many special needs students who are exploring art as an emotional outlet, rather than a way of getting a trophy. All in all, I will always do my best to insure that you are on the right path towards reaching your goals. *** Studio Equipment *** I can provide an 88 key Casio with stand, pedal, and chair, as well as drum pads and sticks, worksheets and texts.
