Hi! My name is Miranda and I'm a Bassist and Music teacher. I've been playing and teaching Music for more than 15 years, and I've had students of all ages.
I'm Brazilian, and I've performed in several orchestras, both in Brazil and in the US. I've also played in musicals (Cabaret, Gypsy, The Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, among others) - this is something that I really enjoy doing! I'm also a singer, and I've sung in choirs and in Bossa Nova and Jazz bands.
I have a Master's degree in Performance (bass) and another one in Popular Music (Brazilian Music). Right now I've just moved to Pittsburgh, PA, for my PhD in Musicology.I love to learn about Music!
A little bit about my experience as a Music teacher: I've taught at universities, conservatories, social projects, private studio, K-12... I love to teach Orchestra, and I'm a conductor. I write arrangements for my orchestras now and then, mostly with a pedagogical intent.
I enjoy to teach kids very much, and I'm a certified Suzuki teacher. I also hold a standard certificate for Music (K-12), issued by the state of Texas, and I'm a member of TMEA. That doesn't mean I don't like to teach adults; my oldest student ever was 72! It's never too late to learn Music and to have fun doing it! If you want to give it a try, I can help you. Just contact me!
I'm certified to teach Music to K-12 by the State of Texas Board of Education.
I'm certified in Suzuki Bass, as well as in the Suzuki metodology.
Teach For America is growing the movement of leaders who work to ensure that kids growing up in poverty get an excellent education.
