Teaching one-on-one, half hour private lessons to students ages 5 through 18. These consisted not only of the drum-set, but also concert snare drumming. Once into the intermediate levels, the curriculum became student-centered, and was based primarily on the direction chosen by the student.

I have been playing and performing music for over 20 years. My greatest strength is the drum-set, with a focus on funk and all sub-genres of rock music. I promise I will have you playing a simple groove by the end of the first lesson; in time we will move in the stylistic direction of the students choice. The ultimate goal is to teach you how to teach yourself. I believe in educating the students in not only the performance of the instrument, but the theory behind it.

      My name Is Michael C. I have been playing music for over 20 years, Performing live for over 15 years, and teaching (off and on) for over ten years. I am truly passionate about music, and enjoy sharing that gift. I take pride in teaching not only performance techniques, but the underlying theory as well. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to teach my students how to teach themselves and take direction of their own growth on the instrument. I am looking forward to meeting you.

Mike taught my son to play drums in 2010. When Alex first asked to take lessons I was excited. He had spent most of his free time playing video games (at the time he was 12). I was also concerned because he was not very coordinated that I had seen, so I was worried about him becoming disappointed or not sticking with it. When Mike came to our house, he made a great first impression. Very polite and respectful. Alex also loved him, he has a great way of relating to kids. By the end of the first lesson, I walked in and heard Alex playing a steady beat on the drums. I was ecstatic. I was impressed each and every lesson. Mike really helped to keep Alex encouraged throughout the process. Alex went on to join the percussion band in high school and still has a passion for music. Mike was a fantastic teacher and I would recommend him to anyone.
