Classical Voice with Meredith B.

I am a professional opera singer and voice teacher, with degrees from Manhattan School of Music and The Pennsylvania State University. I developed an early interest in teaching and pedagogy, and completed all of the available coursework in Vocal Pedagogy during my Bachelor's degree at Penn State. Since that time, I've maintained a studio and enjoyed teaching students of all levels in classical and musical theater singing styles, alongside an active performing career. As I performer, I specialize in opera and concert repertoire, particularly the dramatic repertoire of Wagner, Strauss, Verdi and Puccini. I also have extensive experience singing Mozart roles, and I love singing recitals and programming song literature in a wide range of styles and periods. Some favorite recent performances have included the roles of Puccini's Tosca, Leonore in Beethoven's Fidelio and Freia in Das Rheingold by Wagner. With beginning students, we will start by working with the fundamentals of healthy singing, particularly discovering how to use the breath and support the voice. With more advanced singers, we will focus on developing a tool box of technical knowledge that can be applied to any repertoire we come across. I can coach German, Italian, French and English diction and pronunciation, as well as dramatic interpretation and character development in the context of full roles, arias and songs. I will help you prepare thoroughly for your performances and auditions, but most importantly we will have fun and find joy and freedom in our singing!
