I would love to have the opportunity to share the joy of music with you through piano lessons! I enjoy teaching students of all ages and am happy to work with you right where you are and at your own pace and in your own style. I love to inspire confidence in my students and believe that music should be a joyful pursuit so my studio is a happy place! I use the Faber Musical Adventures series and it has been very effective for my students. There are also some different styles of books within the series so students can explore areas of interest such as jazz, popular, classics, hymns, rock 'n roll, and more! We explore rhythm, note-reading, music theory and chords, and dynamic expression - all enabling us to tell a beautiful and unique musical story together! I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music (organ performance) and Psychology and a Master of Divinity degree. I have been a church organist for ten years, playing at worship services and many weddings and funerals. I have also served for three years as Keyboard Accompanist for Fairfax High School (Fairfax,Virginia) choral groups and all their performances and competitions. I was a Pastor for seventeen years. Five of those years I was Pastor of Youth and Children's Ministry. I have served as Pastoral Care Assistant in a church for nine years working with senior citizens and homebound church members in addition to teaching piano lessons. Hopefully you can see that I love working with all age groups and hope we can soon work together to help you fulfill your musical dreams!
