I've been teaching guitar for 5 years and playing for 23 years.  Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to pick notes and play simple songs and as time goes on you'll be able to strum and play intermediate level songs.  You will also learn music theory along the way.  I specialize in classic rock and pop music, typically use Hal Leonard Guitar Tab Method books, and have the following tools available for your lessons:  acoustic guitar, electric guitar, amplifier, microphone,  Guitar Pro software, and Ipad.  I enjoy working with students ages 8 and up at beginner and intermediate levels.  I look forward to meeting you!

My name is Melissa and I've been playing guitar for 23 years.  When I was 10 years old, I asked my parents for a guitar for Christmas, and I haven't stopped playing since!  I am currently enrolled at Berklee College of Music Online in the Guitar Skills Certificate.  I have completed two courses, which are Guitar Chords and Guitar Scales.  I teach both acoustic and electric guitar.  Guitar has always been a passion of mine.  I took private lessons for over 5 years.  During that time I learned rhythm guitar, lead guitar, classical guitar, and music notation.  My primary method of instruction is guitar tablature.  I enjoy teaching all kinds of music and especially enjoy classic rock and pop music.

Great fun and challenging. Every week a lesson tailored to the music I like and every week a new challenge to learn. Loving the new chords and encouragement.

Melissa is a great teacher!  She is extremely comfortable to work with  and helped  me learn the basics of guitar.  I have  no natural guitar talent or rhythm, but I was always able to make progress with Melissa. I was a beginner and she gave me the tips I needed to try and learn on my own.

She’ll make you feel comfortable, she’s great with all ages, and will go at your pace whether you’re a beginner or a guitar enthusiast looking to broaden your skills. Melissa is a Great instructor!  She really makes guitar theory easy to comprehend.  She has extensive experience  in all different types of music and is really good at working with you on technique. My lead guitar skills have improved significantly since my class work with her.  Plus she is Strat Player 😎
