The American String Teachers Association, founded more than 60 years ago, is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players, helping them to develop and refine their careers. ASTA&#039;s members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. The organization provides a vast array of services, including instrument insurance, an award-winning scholarly journal, discounts on publications and resources, annual professional development opportunities, and access to collegial network of colleagues throughout the string profession.

With a violin performance degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Suzuki Training with Louise Behrend/School for Strings and a graduate degree in teaching from C.U.N.Y, Meg Hill has nurtured generations of musicians through her work in public schools, her private teaching studio, and her unwavering commitment to serving as Managing Director of Music at Port Milford for over 30 years. Meg’s work combines her talents as an educator and community builder with her artistic vision, vast knowledge of the chamber music literature, and her respect for the unique gift and learning style of each of her students.

With over 30 years of teaching students ages pre- k through adults, I carefully evaluate and work with each student's individual learning style, interest level, and work habits. I encourage my students to make practicing a daily routine, and expect each student to regularly  attend live classical performances, as well as  participate in my student recitals.

My violin performance training was at North Carolina School of The Arts, New England Conservatory, and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. I have training and Certification in the Suzuki Method, and have a Masters of Music Education.
