I absolutely love working with students to instill and encourage confidence and the joy of music and theater. I graduated from school with a degree in Vocal Performance & Theater Performance. Not only have I performed in numerous musicals and stage productions, I've been able to sing solo, and in both small and large ensembles in nearly every state in the US and all over the world (including Austria, Germany, Canada, and Costa Rica). I have since moved on from performing because I love sharing my passion and enthusiasm for music and theater with my students!
I have been teaching voice since my senior year of high school. After some pedagogy training in college, I moved on to teach several students out of my home studio in Baltimore, New York City, and now Stamford. I incorporate aspects of classical and contemporary music to make learning both beneficial and fun!
I have been directing theater since high school. I have coached many youth competition teams as well as large scale, dramatic productions in Baltimore. I incorporate many acting techniques and encourage students to explore history of theater. Students learn both classic and contemporary monologues, as well as play games and perform exercises in the lesson.
I love the performing arts and I hope to share the joy of music and theater with each student.
At NY Kids Club, I lead our administrative team in ensuring all arts enrichment classes are full, running smoothly, families are happy, and our curriculum is the best that it can be.
I served as the lead director of the Splendor of Christmas production. I assisted with the creative aspects and creation of the script (character development, music, storyline), lead the dance teams, and directed the cast & production crew, consisting of over 120 children and adults.+ Read More
I taught students in grades Pre-K through 8 general music. In the class we focused on singing and expanding our repertoire, sight-reading, early music theory (grades 6-8 only), and music appreciation. I also produced three staged productions with the elementary school chorus (1-8 grade).+ Read More
Served as the Section Leader of the altos in the Indiana Wesleyan Chorale. This required me to direct them during private rehearsals, sing the appropriate parts solo during rehearsals, one-on-one instruction for students in the section, and create lesson plans based on the director's needs.+ Read More
Privately tutored students for Music Theory and Sight Singing classes.
Meagan is very skilled, knowledgeable, and patient. She both challenged me and made my lessons fun- something to look forward to each week. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher.
Our daughter (6) started taking piano lessons with Meagan a few months ago and we have been very impressed with how things are going. Meagan is prompt, polite, patient, and kind. She knows how to explain musical concepts at a basic level for our daughter to make sure she understands and learns the foundations. We highly recommend her!+ Read More
