I own and run The Steelpan Store, an online retailer specializing in the caribbean instrument, the steelpan (aka steel drum).

Potts & Pans is the largest steelpan organization in Chicagoland. I am the manager of the group as well as one of the performers. I typically perform on steelpan, drum set, and hand percussion.

I am a trained percussionist with real world performance and teaching experience on multiple different types of percussion instruments. Whether you want to focus on drum set, concert percussion, marching percussion, steelpan or other "world percussion" instruments, I am the best teacher for you.

My name is Matt P. and I am a steelpan specialist. I have been in music for 20+ years and got my start on piano. I moved to percussion and became well versed in concert and marching percussion as well as drum set. Going into college, I discovered the steelpan (aka steel drum) and couldn't help but be attracted to it.

I am the president of The Steelpan Store, Potts & Pans Steelband and Culture, Arts and Music. Each of these businesses serve different purposes for helping get more people involved in music. 

Please let me know any questions you may have. I have various levels of lessons available from casual to professional, I can help you get where you want to be within the percussion world.

First of all, let me say how cool the teaching location is! Matt has instruments all over the place and obviously loves what he does. This is such a great atmosphere to learn in!

I have been taking lessons from Matt for four years and wouldn't even think about going to another teacher. He is great with listening to what I want to accomplish and pushing me to reach my goals. A couple years ago, I took a break from lessons from Matt and tried somebody else. After just three lessons, I decided the new teacher wasn't working out and I called Matt back up.
