I have been teaching for five years and have experience with a variety of different students. My own background is centered in classical violin, and I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, but I also have done clinics and performances in jazz, mariachi, and fiddle. I like to cater to my students and find what music drives them, so I view lessons as a collaborative process between me and you! I encourage students to not only spend time with their violin practicing, but to also find times away from the instrument that will enhance their playing. My teaching incorporates a lot of mental practice and strategies that make practice time as efficient as possible. This is especially helpful for students who may not have much time for practice in their schedules! Additionally, I am very aware of the toll instruments can take on our bodies, so I focus a lot on positioning and musculoskeletal health in my teaching. I have taken five years of Alexander Technique lessons (a movement awareness based therapy), and incorporate aspects of it into my teaching. This ensures a longer and healthier musical career, particularly for those who have injuries or those who are susceptible to playing-related pain. If you have any questions about lessons, please feel free to contact me!
