I am a professional cellist and educator with over 10 years of experience. I received a B.A. in Music (Cello Performance) and M.M. in Music Education from Southern Methodist University, where I studied with soloist Andres Diaz. I currently am located in Asheville, NC, and am performing and teaching all over Western North Carolina and beyond. I regularly perform in orchestras, ensembles, and as a soloist, and have recent experience teaching orchestra for middle and high school in the public school system. Lessons with me are fun- I aim to be there for every student as not just their teacher, but their mentor as well, so I connect personally with all of my students. The first step in opening yourself up to being vulnerable enough to play music is to have that connection with your teacher. My lessons often end with giggles, and the student gleefully saying to their parent, "look what I learned today!" In my lessons, I focus on scales, technique, etudes, and solo pieces. All of my students work with the goal of performing. From an online perspective, it is trickier to set up performances, but I work hard to ensure that every student is able to show off their amazing musical skills to their friends and family. The point of playing music is to express something to an audience, so we focus on this aspect a lot in lessons. If you have any questions about my teaching style, philosophy, or background, please don't hesitate to contact me! I hope to see you (and hear you!) soon!

Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. On behalf of its members and Texas schoolchildren, TMEA carefully monitors the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction in Texas. In addition to many member benefits, TMEA offers professional development opportunities for its members with Region workshops and especially with its annual Clinic/Convention. TMEA supports the future of music education by offering scholarships to music education majors and by sponsoring the Texas Future Music Educators, an organization through which high school students interested in careers in music education learn more about what to expect in their college education and future careers.
