    About Luella P.

I am a professional violinist, K-2 Music teacher, and violin teacher. I have played in a variety of community orchestras, serving as Concert Mistress and Principal Second Violin. I graduated from Ithaca College as a Music Education and Performance major with emphasis on violin. You and your child will be expected to spend time each day listening to not only the music you will play, but also your favorite music and lots of classical and fiddling music. Your child will expect to improve their bowing technique and their violin technique. I will help them to learn how to hold their violin and bow properly, and they will be able to play their violin with a beautiful clear tone. I studied violin and piano since the age of two. I studied with Joan Reuning, Sanford Reuning, and Linda Case. I studied piano with a number of teachers, so I will be able to accompany my students as they play their instrument, and help them to learn the skill of playing with and accompanist. I can teach students how to read music, and discover the joy of playing a variety of musical styles as they pursue musical excellence. I have taught elementary and middle school orchestra, as well as elementary music, using the First Steps in Music program. I am also certified to teach Suzuki Violin. I have worked with great musicians such as Sara Caswell, Mark Wood, and Mark O’Connor. I would love to mentor students who have a desire to make music teaching their career. My personal passion is playing classical and country-style fiddling. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to help them become a better musician!
