    About Luba D.

Originally trained as a classical pianist, my musical pursuits turned to singing when I began performing in the New York jazz scene with my own trio at the age of 18. Since that time, I have worked with countless well-known jazz instrumentalists as well as expanded my repertoire to include pop, soul, R&B, reggae. I often accompany myself on piano and am a singer/songwriter. I am a Cantor for the Synagogue as well as a church musician. I have taught piano, sight singing, theory and voice at the University of the Virgin Islands where I have been adjunct faculty for seven years. I love to witness my students' "Aha" moments - the moments of joyful discovery that create meaningful and long- lasting personal success.

I am so grateful to have a piano teacher like Ms. Luba. I’ve been learning from her for about two years. Her passion for music and teaching is evident in every lesson I have with her. She’s incredibly thoughtful and genuinely cares about each student's growth, tailoring her approaches to fit each student’s needs and goals. One of the most motivating aspects of learning with her is her enthusiastic responses when I reach my goals and show improvement, her excitement is contagious and drives me to push myself further. Her encouragement, support, and attentiveness have made my piano journey educational and incredibly enjoyable.

For 5 years Luba was my piano teacher. I had other teachers before her and she was by far the best. Her teaching method made it so much easier to learn and understand what I was reading and playing. I was able to choose the music that I wanted to play and even though some pieces were very difficult she gave me the instruction and motivation to move forward. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.

Ms. Luba was my private piano teacher for about 3 years. She was very passionate, professional, and knowledgeable about music and her students. I will never forget, I was so nervous about my recital that I made a few mistakes. I was so embarrassed and frustrated with myself. Ms. Luba came to me and said "it's ok, take a deep breathe." She stayed with me until I was calm. With her patient demeanor, calm voice, and smile, she creates a healthy learning environment where her students can thrive. I highly recommend her as a piano teacher.
