About Lisa N.
Lisa's first formal introduction to music came when her mother, a masters student at the Eastman school of Music in Rochester, enrolled her in violin lessons at age 6. The family moved to Miami, FL, but Lisa chose to move back north to attend college at the University of Rochester, and continue her musical studies at the Eastman School. In 1989, she moved to Cupertino, California; here she was able to play in many San Francisco Bay-area musical ensembles while pursuing a career in computer engineering. In 2017, Lisa retired from the computer industry to pursue music on a full-time basis, and completed a degree in Music Education at the University of New Hampshire. When not holding a saxophone, Lisa enjoys quilting, fast cars, and playing in the Freese Brothers Big Band. Check out my jazz group, contemplationjazz . com!

First time doing online lessons. Lisa made it very easy. She is very upbeat and makes lessons enjoyable.

Awesome teacher! Took several years off from playing clarinet, and Lisa helped me get going again. Best thing I ever did was to start taking music lessons again!

Lisa is an experienced teacher in so many ways. She is well versed in the mechanics of instruments, and all the nuances of music. She works well with students of all ages, and is an excellent teacher!!!

Lisa has been great at explaining some aspects of Jazz theory and improvisation that I have missed or only glossed over in the past. She has given me worksheets and examples that are nicely presented for further study. I recommend her for woodwinds and theory studies! A great teacher and a teachers teacher actually!

A truly talented musician, composer, and person! Lisa's passion for music is envious and evident... and it shines every time she picks up an instrument or teaches someone!

Took jazz lessons from Lisa and learned a lot!!! It was a great experience and she is a great teacher! Lisa has a great way of pushing your comfort zone and bringing out your best. Highly recommended!!!

As an adult alto sax player, I had Lisa as a director/instructor in several small jazz ensembles. She is supportive and gave me a positive push ("a you can do this") in soloing/improvising. Lisa has been a mentor to me as I continue playing the sax and with her encouragement I was successful in performing in jazz band camp for 2 summers!
